Wheelchair dancing: Successful weekend in St. Petersburg
During the Continents Cup 2012 (approved by the International
Paralympic Committee, IPC) in St. Petersburg, the German wheelchair
couple Erik Machens & Andrea Borrmann recorded three finals and
two victories in the Single and Team Match.
14 couples took part in the Latin Duo tournament. In an
exciting final, the German couple had to settle for the fourth
place.

For the second time, an international wheelchair Single
tournament was hosted. Erik Machens prevailed in the field of 14
dancers and won the tournament.

The standard dances and the team match were also on the
agenda. Erik and Andrea reached the third place. The teams are
drawn shortly before the competition starts. Couples who are
competitors in Single tournaments become team mates. For the first
time, this tournament was live-streamed via the internet. As the
Paralympics took place at the same time in London, the live feed
was directly transmitted to London.
