European Champion beats World Champion
66 couples from 35 nations competed in the European
Championships Adult Standard in Koblenz. Four couples from last
year's final again reached places 1 to 4. New in the final were
Evgeny Moshenin/Genny Favero (Italy) and Daniil Ulanov/Irina
Gogoladze (Russia). The Russian champions, Sergey & Olga
Konovaltsev, reached 4th place, just like the year before.
Despite a great support from the audience and a top
performance, the Freestyle world champions Simone Segatori/Annette
Sudol could not interfere with the duel between the two Standard
world champions and finished 3rd. Benedetto Ferruggia/Claudia
Köhler were not able to defend their world championship from 2011
against the Danish couple Emanuel Valeri/Tania Kehlet. Their
mission is now to improve even more and to regain the title. By
winning all five dances and a thereby clear victory of the European
Championship, an important step has been taken.
