Mallorca Dancesport Challenge - updated
The German couples performed well at the Mallorca Dancesport
Challenge. 64 couples took place in the world ranking tournament
Senior II Standard. The two-time world champions Heinz-Josef &
Aurelia Bickers clearly won all five dances ahead of the vice world
champions from Italy, Carlo Wilmer Righero/Manuela Travers.
Wolfgang Walter/Ilse von Beyer finished 3rd. The strength of the
German couples was confirmed by Raymund & Antje Reimann (4.)
and Günther & Antje Nagel (5.).
On the second day, the World Championship Senior III Standard
was on. 184 couples competed for the title. Unfortunately, no
German couple reached the final this year. Wolfgang Walter/Ilse von
Beyer were the best German couple (9./10.). Bosco & Corinne
Novak also reached the semi final and were ranked 13th.
Before, Heinz-Josef & Aurelia Bickers reached the Senior
I Standard final as only German couple. After winning the Senior II
the day before, they also won the Senior I.
Also on Monday, German couples were successful: Gisbert
Diekmann/Claudia Schickenberg finished 2nd in the Open Senior II
Standard tournament. Jörg & Beate Monse won the Senior III
Standard ahead of Gerhard Baier/Ingrid Cloos (2nd). Harald &
Anja Dormann
were the winners of the Senior II Latin competition, Andreas
Krause/Karina Saleina were ranked 3rd. Of 113 couples in the Open
Senior III Standard tournament, one third of the quarter final (24
couples) came from Germany: Wolfgang Walter/Ilse von Beyer reached
the final and won the bronze medal. In the semi final, Marius &
Barbara Torka were ranked 7th, Dieter Keppeler/Manuela
Schraut-Keppeler 9th, and Oliver Luthardt/Brigitte Kessel-Döhle
10th. The quarter final was the last round for Gerhard Beier/Ingrid
Cloos (16.), Rainer Grasmeier/Sibylle Schug (21.), Franz-Peter
& Cornelia Schwindling (23.) and Olaf Paul/Christi Renno-Paul
(24.).
